Shigaku Campus Guide: Areas, Activities, and Fight Restrictions
Shigaku spawns you into an open, free-roam high school campus with no quest markers. This location reference covers the campus areas seen in gameplay, the activities tied to each, and where fighting is restricted.
Quick answer
Shigaku drops you onto an open Japanese high school campus with no quest marker telling you what to do first. The campus is a free-roam space: you find its activity areas by walking around, not by following objectives or markers.
- Activities named across the campus: fighting, the gym, the basketball courts, class, the drums, and carrying other students into lockers
- No campus map or in-game wayfinding is documented, so this page is a name-based area reference, not a labeled map

Campus areas seen in gameplay
The area names below are informal player wording from gameplay commentary, not official signage — the game provides no labeled layout. Each entry records what the area is actually used for in play.
Comparison
| Area | Observed use |
|---|---|
| Gym (weights area) | Players work out with weights here; one video visits the gym area specifically to check whether it has a safe zone. |
| Boxing ring (on the gym floor) | After one update, you could not fight inside the boxing ring. |
| Basketball courts | Spotted while exploring the campus. |
| Court area | A creator called for a safe zone here for players who don't want PvP. |
| Lockers | Used to stuff carried students; one group revisits a preferred locker spot they had used before. |
| Roof | Used as a meeting point (“I meet you on the roof, bro. Survive.”) in pre-release playtest footage. |
| Bathrooms | Used as a meetup point between players (“I'll meet you in the bathroom.”). |
| Study hall | A newly released area announced in a content update. |
| School interior at night | Very dark during in-game nighttime (around 3:00 a.m. in-game), and post-update fog can cut visibility to near zero. |
Where campus activities happen
Checklist
- Working out / getting stronger — gym
“Hit the gym to get stronger” is named among the campus activities, and footage shows players working out with weights in the gym area — where other players can interrupt them.
- Basketball courts
Named in the campus overview (“take over the basketball courts”) and confirmed on the map in gameplay footage.
- Class
“Sit through class” is named as a campus activity held in the school's classrooms; which building or floor hasn't been shown.
- Drums
“Grab the drums and learn a song” is named as a campus activity; where they sit on campus hasn't been shown, so plan to find them by exploring.
- Lockers — carry-and-stuff
You can “carry other students around and stuff them into lockers.” Footage shows players leading others to specific lockers and reusing favorite spots; those spots are player-chosen, not fixed landmarks.
- Dodgeball
Added in an update and located by exploring (“Yo, they added dodgeball. Where that's at?”); there's no set spot to head to.
Fight restrictions and safe zones
Fighting is restricted in specific campus areas, but the recorded rules changed across updates — treat these as timing-dependent observations, not one permanent rule set.
Earlier footage found the opposite of a safe zone in the gym: the gym area looked like it had no protection, players could be attacked while working out, and getting hit locks you into combat until it wears off — you have to "wait it out" before you can work out again. The same creator adds that "the court area over here needs a like safe zone."
A later update flipped part of this. One creator describes the newly added no-fight area — "They finally added the safe zone so you can't fight in this like little area" — and observes that the restriction reaches onto the gym floor and into the boxing ring: "you can't even fight on the gym floor over there, bro... they also made it where you couldn't fight inside the boxing ring." That update commentary doesn't spell out the safe zone's full boundary beyond those observations.
Separately, one video captures players discovering a spot where fighting had been disabled: "We can't fight here. Oh, they changed it... You can only find the boss right now." That remark doesn't identify where the boss spawns. Because the gym and court rules have differed between update states, test whether fighting is disabled in those areas on the current version rather than assuming either behavior.
Getting around: orientation and visibility
Orientation aids on campus are minimal. The tutorial's main tools are a full-screen controls display — "So we can see the controls right here. So these are all the controls. So screenshot this if you guys need to" — followed by a pan across the grounds: "And this is a campus right here. This is everything they have on the campus." After that, finding areas is done on foot, as creators set out to "explore the map" themselves. No campus map, minimap, or waypoint system is documented, and area positions relative to spawn or to each other aren't established — so use the lists above as names to look for, not directions.
Visibility is the main navigation hazard. The school interior is very dark during in-game nighttime — one creator, struggling to see, notes that "it is 3:00 a.m. though" in-game — and one update's fog cut visibility so severely that players compared it to a horror game ("This fog is way too heavy").
Campus content has also moved across updates: safe zones were added, dodgeball was added, study hall was released, and fog was introduced. Recheck area placements and fight rules in-game after any map or activity placement update.
